Iglesia Mayor de la Encarnación (Plaza de la Iglesia, Parroquía la Encarnación, Marbella) – The Church of Our Lady of the Incarnation is a 16th century structure, built after the Christian conquest of the region from the Moors. The church’s name, in fact, denotes the Christian faith againstIslamic doctrine, which denies the mystery of the incarnation. Between 1720 and 1756, the Church underwent a number of modifications.
One of the attractions of the church is the bell tower which is estimated an approximate height of 33 meters. Crowned with a tiled pyramidal spire, the tower has four sections with bells and clocks. The oldest bell is installed in the eastern side. To the left of the church, entering through the front door, is the chapel of the Immaculate, which are already in the side of the nave, the altar of Christ Peace, Old Souls and after San Isidro the chapel of Jesus of Nazareth, the altar of the Virgen del Pilar, and, finally, beside the altar, the chapel of the Virgin of Fatima. Presently, the Church houses the Lady of Solitude – Virgen de la Soledad, the Church is an important religious point and holds many ecclesiastical events, especially during Easter.
